Set in the village of Cartmel, Wheelhouse Cottage sits by the river Eea and Wheelhouse bridge, a short distance off the main village square where you will find a clutch of excellent inns, cafes and restaurants including the Michelin awarded L'Enclume, along with a fine selection of shops. Built over some 200 years ago it has been modernised and extended to offer guests a fine and popular Lake District holiday cottage. For 2013 the owners have made further improvements with the refurbishment of the sitting room and a super new bathroom, the result being awarded a coveted 4 Star Gold from Visit England. From the front riverside entrance you step into a large hall with steps leading down to the semi open plan living areas. The sitting room space has two plump sofas and an armchair set under a canopy of beams. Add soft lighting and a roaring fire and you have the perfect place to relax after your days explorations.
